Through my artwork, which is primarily object-driven, I am exploring the cycle of life (birth, growth, reproduction, death, decay and rebirth) through imagery associated with the natural world. Using a variety of materials, such as metal, cement, wood, paper and leather I create forms that provide a momentary glimpse into one or multiple parts of this cycle. I am very process-oriented and the act of making a sculpture is, for me, just as important as the finished work itself. My methods of working allow me to mirror nature in a sense, as I create, grow, destroy and recreate forms as I sculpt them.
